About this policy
This policy explains how The Festival handles information when you visit thefestival.live or participate in the tournament.
Children
The tournament is intended only for people who have reached the age at which they can consent to the use of their information for online services under the data protection law applicable where they live. We do not knowingly accept signups from people below that age or intentionally collect their tournament information. If you believe someone below the applicable age has signed up, please contact us at info@thefestival.live.
Information we collect
After you sign up through the Discord bot using the `/sign-up` command, our bot sends your team's ID and name, availability, and members' Discord account creation dates to the backend. The backend stores team IDs and names, availability, match history, and gameplay actions such as picks, bans, and bloodpoint actions.
Account creation dates are stored with team records and used to identify members for token generation. The backend does not store members' Discord account IDs or usernames.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include in your message so we can respond.
Backend request logs
For requests handled under the backend's bot profile, logs may include query strings and request payloads. These can contain team information or account creation dates. Request headers are excluded from this logging.
Cloudflare and website traffic
We use Cloudflare to deliver and protect this website. When you visit, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address and request details to provide those services. Cloudflare describes its handling of this information in its Privacy Policy.
STRATO hosting
We use STRATO GmbH to host our backend and store stream recordings. In providing these services, STRATO may process the team and tournament information, Discord account creation dates, backend request data, and recordings described in this policy. STRATO describes its handling of information in its Privacy Notice.
Browser technologies and external resources
The Live page uses Google Fonts for its timestamp display. Your browser may connect to Google to load the font, which can expose your IP address and technical request details to Google. See the Google Privacy Policy.
The Bloodweb page loads the D3 JavaScript library from jsDelivr. When you open that page, your browser requests the script from jsDelivr, which may receive your IP address and technical request details. See the jsDelivr Privacy Policy.
For Bloodweb unlock requests, the page checks for an XSRF-TOKEN cookie. If its
value is used, it is sent to our backend in request headers to help secure those requests.
Live screen sharing
If you choose to start sharing on the Live page, your browser asks you to select a screen, window, or tab. We use WebRTC to send video of your selection to our live server for streaming. We ask you to share Dead by Daylight footage, but anything visible in the screen, window, or tab you select can be included in the stream and recording, including other applications if you share your entire screen. The page does not request audio. People who can view the live stream can see the content you share while you are broadcasting.
We actively monitor the shared video during matches for moderation. The video is recorded, and we may review the recordings afterward when needed for moderation. Recordings are stored on a STRATO-hosted server and only The Festival commissioner is authorized to access them.
To connect your stream, our backend provides connection credentials. The live server and connection services may process your IP address and other technical connection details. You can stop sharing from the Live page or your browser's screen-sharing controls.
How we use information
We use your Discord role to determine your team and your account creation date to identify you within that team when generating a token. We use messages sent to us to answer questions and handle requests. Cloudflare processes website traffic to deliver and secure the site.
How long we keep it
We keep your Discord account creation date in our database through the tournament and delete it when the tournament ends.
We delete the backend request logs described above after each tournament. We may keep stream recordings for up to one year from when they are made to investigate suspected cheating.
Discord
Discord handles information you provide when using its own service under the Discord Privacy Policy.
Our bot posts signup details, including the submitter's and proposed captain's mentions and the submitter's avatar URL, to a Discord review channel. It posts roster member mentions to a Discord roster channel.
Your choices
To ask about, correct, or request deletion of the information we keep about your participation, contact us at info@thefestival.live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if any of our data processing practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
